Biography
Louis Romanos has studied, recorded and performed with many great musicians including Earl Turbinton, Victor Atkins, Dave Easley, Charlie Miller, Al Hirt, Joel Frahm, John Hebert, Charles Neville, Jason Stuart, Brian Seeger, Stanton Moore. He currently performs and records with the Dromedary Quartet, LRQ, and Permagrin.
Louis Romanos began his career performing with the award winning Hall High school Pops and Jazz band in West Hartford, Connecticut. Many exceptional musicians were in that band including Brad Mehldau and Joel Frahm. After graduation from Hall Louis turned down a scholarship to study music at Berkley in Boston and chose to go down to Loyola New Orleans to study music and Philosophy. He spent much of his time and energy performing around New Orleans as well as writing, recording and producing for his live electronica band, Permagrin. Some compositions didn't fit into the electric genre and were better expressed through Jazz. Thus the LRQ was formed. Around 2001, Louis put together his own acoustic jazz band, The Louis Romanos Quartet (LRQ) with Dave Easley from Brian Blade’s Fellowship band, and Dave Anderson, the principal bass chair in the Louisiana philharmonic orchestra. The LRQ is an integration of his many influences and pays tribute to Lou's musical heroes.
